The full list.

We have tested more than 60 lash products sold in the UK; these are the 15 worth listing. Each one was bought at retail, its INCI list read line by line, then trialled for 8–12 weeks and scored on efficacy, safety, ingredients and value. Twelve of the fifteen turned out to contain a prostaglandin or an analogue of one — including a product marketed as the hormone-free alternative. All are labelled. No sponsorships, no pay-to-rank.

Ingredient audit: who uses what

Every published INCI list, read line by line. Twelve of the fifteen products here contain a prostaglandin or a synthetic analogue of one — including several sold with peptide-led marketing. "SCCS named" means the compound is one of the three the EU's Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety concluded, on 2 February 2026, cannot be considered safe in cosmetic lash and brow products. "Not named" does not mean cleared: norbimatoprost and dehydrolatanoprost are derivatives of licensed glaucoma medicines and belong to the same family — they have simply had less regulatory attention so far.

Ethyl tafluprostamide and DDDE are the same thing

They are two INCI names for one compound (CAS 1185851-52-8). A brand listing "ethyl tafluprostamide" is listing the analogue the SCCS named as dechloro dihydroxy difluoro ethylcloprostenolamide. If a serum uses the less familiar name, that is worth noticing.

How to read a label in five seconds

Scan for the letters prost. Isopropyl cloprostenate, ethyl tafluprostamide, ethylcloprostenolamide, norbimatoprost, dehydrolatanoprost and bimatoprost all contain them. Peptide names such as biotinoyl tripeptide-1 or myristoyl pentapeptide-17 are not analogues and are not the problem. Two brands — RevitaLash and GrandeLASH-MD — annotate the analogue on their own labels, which is worth crediting.

Audit carried out 13 August 2026 against manufacturers' published INCI lists. Several brands sell more than one formula under near-identical names — an analogue version and a peptide-only version — so check the box you are actually holding. If a formula has changed and this table is out of date, email us and we will correct it.

If you want to avoid analogues entirely

Verified analogue-free: The Ordinary Multi-Peptide

Second overall and the highest-scoring product with no prostaglandin of any kind in the formula. Only three of the fifteen on this page qualify — we checked every line. Slower than the serum above it, £16 for 5 ml, and nothing on the label that needs explaining.

How to read this ranking

The number on the right is a weighted average of four sub-scores — efficacy, safety, ingredients and value — not a popularity rating. A serum can lose its place by getting more expensive or by being reformulated, even if nothing about the marketing changes.

The filters split the market the way it actually divides. Prostaglandin-free is the one most people want: every product in it is built on peptides, biotin or panthenol rather than a drug-like analogue. Peptide serums are the strongest of those. Conditioners strengthen the lash you already have instead of forcing new growth — cheap, gentle and slower. Growth serums is where the prostaglandin analogues sit: Twelve of the fifteen contain one. The full breakdown is in the ingredient audit below. Note that several brands sell both an analogue formula and a peptide-only version under near-identical names — the INCI list on the box is the only reliable guide. They deliver the fastest results, which is why they score well on a results-led system — and they carry the eyelid, orbital-fat and iris risks described in our safety section, which is why every one of them is labelled and why safety still costs them a fifth of the score.

Anything below about 7.5 is on this list for reference rather than recommendation. We keep low scorers published so you can see what we rejected and why — quietly deleting a bad result is how rankings stop being useful.
