Ranked #14 of 15 Verified prostaglandin-free

Eveline SOS Lash Booster

A chemist-shelf conditioner at £8 for 10 ml that makes no growth claims it cannot keep, contains no prostaglandin analogue, and works as a mascara base. On this list, that combination counts for something.

What is in it

Structurally this is closer to a clear mascara than a serum: waxes and film-formers with argan oil, panthenol, hydrolysed soy protein and sodium hyaluronate for conditioning. There is no analogue. There are four parabens and DMDM hydantoin, which some people avoid on preference rather than evidence.

Full ingredient list

Aqua, Paraffin, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Copernicia Cerifera Cera, Stearic Acid, Bis-PEG-12 Dimethicone Beeswax, Propylene Glycol, Glyceryl Behenate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Ceteareth-20, DMDM Hydantoin, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Panthenol, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Butylene Glycol, Propylparaben, Sodium Nitrate, Hydrated Silica, Potassium Sorbate, Trisodium EDTA, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hyaluronate.

Verified prostaglandin-freeWe read every line: no analogue, no coral extract, nothing from the prostaglandin family. It achieves that by not really being a growth product at all, which is a fair trade at £8.

How it performed

Lashes looked glossier and more defined immediately, which is the film-former doing its job, and slightly less brittle by week twelve. No measurable growth. Nobody expected any, and the product does not promise it.

Who it is for

Anyone who wants their lashes to look better tomorrow rather than in twelve weeks, and anyone taking a break from a stronger serum. Also the cheapest way to find out whether you can tolerate anything on your lash line at all.

The verdict

Ranked #14 of 15

Not a serum and not pretending to be one. As a cheap, honest conditioning base it is fine, and it is one of only four products here with nothing on the label to explain.

Safety note

This product contains no prostaglandin analogue. Patch-test on the inner forearm for two nights before applying along the lash line, remove contact lenses first, and stop if you notice redness, swelling or irritation that does not settle.
